The Mid-Atlantic Regional Pleasure Driving Weekend committee invites you to the 2009 Regional Meeting and the ADS Annual Members Meeting, to be held at the Morven Park International Equestrian Center, Leesburg, Virginia. Morven Park is a historic estate that has been home to two past governors of Virginia, was the home of the Morven Park International Equestrian Institute, and also houses the Museum of Foxhounds and Hunting.
The weekend’s goals have always been: good driving, good friends, and good food, with a little education and entertainment thrown in for good measure! You will also have the chance to meet ADS Board and Committee members, and participate in the Annual Meeting of the Membership.
The stables will open at 11 AM on Thurs, August 6 and close at 3 PM on Sunday, August 9. Driving and educational activities will be planned for the entire weekend so bring your horse if you can but if you can’t there is still plenty to do and see. Drives will be marked and posted on the main notice board.
A multiples clinic will be available for interested persons on Saturday morning for those that would like to know more about what it takes to drive a multiple. Mickie Bowen will lead this clinic with her seasoned ponies. Opportunities will be available to drive multiple.
Our gathering place for this year will be a 40x60 foot tent that will be set up near the stables and will be “Command Central’ with a notice board posted with up-to-date information for each day. It will also be our dining hall and meeting place for informal discussions.
Dinner on both Friday and Saturday will be in the tent (country casual attire). Friday night will be Italian Night and Saturday dinner will feature an onsite barbeque. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting will be held prior to Friday’s dinner. The Annual ADS Members Meeting will be held before the Saturday dinner. During and after Saturday’s dinner, we will have a silent auction of driving related and other items donated by driving enthusiasts, equestrian supply companies, and other vendors, proceeds to go to the ADS Fund which supports all activities in our sport of carriage driving.
